CARE international In Uganda is part of a consortium that has been awarded a grant by USAID to implement a 5 [five) year program known as Sustainable Responses for Improving the Lives of Vulnerable Children and their Households - [SCORE). The program aims at
improving the lives of vulnerable children and their households. The SCORE program will be implemented in more than 30 districts and now we are looking for self-motivated and qualified Ugandan professionals to join the SCORE team. All the positions will be based in Kampala.

Job Title: Food Security & Nutrition Coordinator Reports to: Project Manager
The Food Security & Nutrition Coordinator is part of the team that is entrusted to implement the comprehensive package of improving food security and nutrition status of VC households through establishment of farmer field schools [FFS), behaviour change & food consumption practices and establishment of linkages with relevant stakeholders in selected program districts. S/he will ensure that SCORE program food security and nutrition strategies are appropriately applied depending on the level of vulnerability of the children and their households and well integrated into other program technical areas.


Key responsibilities
Identify food security priorities of VC and their household .members and actively develop operational plans for implementation with according to the agreed criteria
Facilitation of the linkages between VC households and the services they need (including extension services, input supply, planting material access, and credit/financial services).
Facilitation of the development of innovations/technologies with a broader reach including production technologies.
.* Promote avenues of awareness creation and adaptation on infant feeding practices, hygiene, and -balance diet. Conducting dialogues and workshops for vulnerable house¬holds on the importance of creating and providing a supportive and protective family environment and education for their children
Ensure that partners are aware of relevant policy guidelines, technical standards and relevant commitments that the Government and other USA1D programs have undertaken
Strengthen the Capacity of partner organizations in the implementation of SCORE food security & nutrition strategies
Participate in value chain analysis process

Job requirement

Person specifications/qualifications:
Masters Degree in Agriculture, Economics, Social Science, Public Health/Nutrition or related field
At feast 5 years' relevant work experience, minimum three years experience in Food Security programming
Familiarity with current issues in the nutrition field will be added advantage
Proficient analytical skills that show understanding of current concepts, priorities, and issues in food security arena
An ability to communicate effectively and strong conceptual ability, and writing skills
2-3 years experience in managing partnerships, and organizational capacity building of local organizations
Adult learning and facilitation skills are a prerequisite
